When you live on campus at the University of South Carolina, you enjoy the total college experience-—not just part of it. On-campus living at the University of South Carolina allows you to make the most of every minute, which means more time to participate in college life. In-hall classrooms are just seconds away; in minutes, you can eat at Chick-Fil-A or another restaurant; online computer laboratories in your residence hall area run around the clock; in a flash you can dash to in-hall wellness centers or the physical education center; and laundry facilities are open 24-7. Living on campus gives you the best of everything in one affordable, convenient package. Research studies show that students who live on campus are more likely to stay in college and graduate; report more satisfaction with their undergraduate experience, in particular with friendships, faculty relations, and college life; achieve more in extracurricular activities, particularly leadership and athletics; and earn higher grade point averages. For a comparison of the features of our residence halls, you can Download our residence hall features chart here.(.pdf)

Halls open during break periods - All apartment-style buildings remain open during all break periods (i.e., Thanksgiving, Winter and Spring breaks).  Residents of other halls are encouraged to make alternate plans as early as possible if they plan to remain in Columbia during break periods. Students should read all fliers that appear prior to each break for any changes.

Adapted housing - The University recognizes the special needs of students with disabilities and provides adapted living accommodations for them. Contact the Office of Student Disability Services at 803-777-6742 for assistance.
