Upcoming Service-Learning Events
Community Partner Breakfast
On Tuesday, October 8th, 2013, the Office of Student Engagement will sponsor the 6th Annual Community Partner Breakfast. It will take place in the Russell House University Union Ballroom from 7:30am-9am.
The event, part of the university’s efforts to celebrate and build sustainable community partnerships, connects campus representatives with local agencies to enhance the success of programs such as academic service-learning. It is free and open to faculty, staff, and students involved or interested in campus-community partnerships and to professionals from service agencies in Columbia.
Service-learning courses have increased steadily at the university, enhancing students’ academic experiences in classrooms and laboratories and encouraging extracurricular collaboration among faculty, students, and community service agencies.
The Greater Good
On Thursday, November 7, 2013, the Office of Student Engagement will collaborate with campus partners including Preston Residential College, Community Service Programs, and Capstone Scholars Program to sponsor the 3rd annual event entitled, “The Greater Good: A Conversation for Careers and Opportunities in the Non-profit Sector.” The three main focus areas of this student event are (a) careers in the non-profit sector, (b) establishing partnerships with non-profit organizations, and (c) networking among student leaders involved in service.
