Student Success Center: Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leaders
Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a learning enhancement program for undergraduate students in designated, historically-challenging courses on campus. SI Leaders, peers who have previously taken the course and excelled, attend class and facilitate three study sessions per week throughout the semester. SI Sessions are open to all undergraduate students, and participants typically develop more efficient methods of studying course material, collaborate with classmates to improve understanding of content, and earn higher course grades. The SI Program supports courses in the following subject areas: BIOL, CHEM, CSCE, EMCH, EXSC, MATH, PHIL, PSYC, and PHYS.
Second month of each semester
SI Leaders are selected through a competitive application process each semester (Fall and Spring). SI Leaders must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher based on at least 15 credits taken at USC-Columbia and must have earned an A in the course(s) they wish to support and was taken at USC-Columbia.
