Study Abroad Peer Advisors

Description:
Study Abroad Peer Advisors are USC students who have returned from studying abroad. These students work in a pre-professional capacity with the Study Abroad Office staff to promote study abroad on campus and to support prospective, current, and returned participants.

Recruitment:
E-mails go out on the listserv to students who have studied abroad. Posting on the study abroad office website. Applications available July 1, 2012; due August 1, 2012

Qualifications:
One semester of study abroad

Class Requirements:
None

Training:
Two half-day group training sessions the first few weeks of employment as well as a half day group training session at the beginning of spring semester; bi-weekly training is conducted on an individual basis throughout the academic year

Meetings:
Peer Advisor’s schedules are planned around academic responsibilities

Time Commitment:
10-15 hours/week, including special events. Some evening and weekend work required
