Substance Abuse and Prevention Education Peer Educators

Description:

Peers advocating for a campus-community environment that promotes healthy low-risk behaviors concerning the use of alcohol and other drugs among students through preventive and educational strategies and practices.

Minimum 2.5 GPA; desire for self-growth and to help other students grow as well; interest in talking to people and presenting workshops

Training:

Successful completion of SAPE Peers application and interview process. Completion of a 3-credit hour course during the fall semester to include specialized training and certification as a nationally recognized BACCHUS Network Peer Educator. HPEB 301: Practicum in Health Education. Attend ongoing SAPE trainings to build knowledge and skills for facilitating presentations/workshops.

Time commitment:

Participate in biweekly and other additional project-specific meetings as scheduled, 3-5 hours per week.
