Peer Leader Group: SSC Financial Peer Educators
The Financial Literacy Program in the Student Success Center provides financial education and support to all University of South Carolina students. Financial Literacy Peer Educators (1) facilitate financial education presentations and workshops (offered primarily for University 101 courses), and (2) provide consultations, where they meet one-on-one with students seeking help with basic money management.
Ongoing (Hiring for Spring and Fall semesters)
Financial Peer Educators must be an undergraduate student, have a 3.0 cumulative GPA, and be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior.
The main training period will be 3-4 days during the week prior to the start of Spring or Fall semester. Ongoing Financial Literacy Program training consists of one meeting every two weeks while classes are in session.
All new Student Success Center peer leaders are required to attend and successfully complete ongoing weekly Cohort Training throughout the Fall semester in order to be employed by the Student Success Center. New Financial Literacy Peer Educators will be expected to complete this cohort during the first Fall semester in which they work for the Financial Literacy Program. The cohort meets for 1 hour per week during the Fall semester.
The ongoing training meeting times will be set at the beginning of each semester.
