Emerging Leaders Mentors

Description:
Emerging Leader Mentors (ELMs) are students who provide mentoring for students in the Emerging Leaders Program. ELMs will gain experience mentoring first year and transfer student leaders, facilitating one session of ELP, and organizing a small service project for their team of ELP participants. ELMs must either be sophomore students that have graduated from ELP or students that have attended USC for more than 4 semesters.

Recruitment:
Beginning of the fall 2014 semester and end of spring 2015 semester.

Qualifications:
ELMs must: be a full-time student enrolled at the University of South Carolina-Columbia; have either completed at least 4 semesters at USC Columbia or completed 2 semesters at USC Columbia and previously participated in ELP; must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA and be in good academic standing with their respective college.

Class Requirements:
Students must have completed at least 4 semesters as a USC student.

Training:
Students will attend a training workshop to discuss the program and expectations for the semester and meet other Emerging Leader Mentors.

Meetings:
Emerging Leader Mentors will be asked to assist in some ELP sessions from mid-September to mid-November. They will also be asked to be available for 1:1 mentoring with emerging leaders upon request.

Time Commitment:
Approximately 90 minutes per week for 8-10 weeks
