Career Peer Educators

Description:
The Career Peer Educators (CPE's) are leaders who assist their peers in developing lifelong career management skills. By conducting drop-in resume reviews and attending professional development meetings, CPE's become proficient in many of the skills employers look for in new hires, such as communication, problem solving, and leadership.

Recruitment:
Applications for the Career Peer Educators are accepted year round, however, review of applications is in November/December for Spring admittance and again in March/April, for Fall admittance. A formal interview and presentation is required before being accepted into the program. The application can be found here: sc.edu/career/cpe/cpe.html

Qualifications:
2.5 G.P.A; Career Peer Educators must be able to work 4-5 hours a week and be able to commit to the entire Academic year.

Class Requirements:
Sophomore, Junior or Senior standing; all majors are welcome and encouraged.

Training:
CPE Orientation 1-half day (Friday) in the fall semester. Mission, goals, and introduction to services offered at Career Center will be communicated. CPE Skills and Resource training: 1-full day in the fall semester and 1-full day in spring semester. Communicates the specifics of the role of CPEs and trains them on resume writing, cover letter format and review, Career Center resources, drop-in procedure and C3M (appointment management system). Spring semester will include updates and revisit training topics.

Meetings:
CPE staff meetings are periodically on Friday's from 12-1pm throughout each semester.

Time Commitment:
5 hours per week
