Changing Carolina Peer Leaders

Changing Carolina Peer Leaders are a diverse group of students who combine their specialized training and passion for health education and wellness with a desire to make a difference on campus. Changing Carolina is involved with a variety of health issues relevant to college students including:

  • Physical activity, nutrition, and exercise
  • Body image and eating disorders
  • Stress management
  • Sexual health and healthy relationships
  • Interpersonal violence prevention
  • Tobacco use

Examples of campus-wide programs and events that Changing Carolina Peer Leaders are involved with or lead include:

  • National Depression Screening
  • De-Stress Fest
  • Domestic Violence Awareness Month
  • Project Condom
  • Carolina Beautiful
  • Healthy Carolina Farmer’s Market
  • Sexual Assault Awareness Month
  • Changing Carolina 5K

Fall Semester

2.5 GPA; HPEB 301 class

Class Requirements:
HPEB 301: a 3 credit hour course during the spring semester to receive training as a Changing Carolina Peer Leader. During the course, students develop presentation skills, participate in on-campus events, receive generalized training in an array of health and wellness topics, and gain in-depth knowledge in individual areas of interest. Following successful completion of the course, students are able to facilitate interactive, educational presentations to student groups while planning, promoting, and delivering campus-wide programs, events and initiatives.

HPEB 301 class (complete 1 time); Fall and Spring Retreat; One-day review session in the beginning of the Fall semester.

Thursdays, 5:30-7pm

Time Commitment:
Meetings, presentations and events throughout the semester (approximately 2-4 hours per week).
