National Student Exchange Special Exchanges

The National Student Exchange offers a number of special exchange opportunities. For more details on all of these options, explore the NSE website at www.nse.org

Spanish Immersion Experience

Students who are interested in improving their Spanish can do so at a number of schools in the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico. No passport is required to study in Puerto Rico and the currency is the same. Students must have approval from a Spanish instructor at USC and may be required to take a language proficiency test. A minimum of 4 semesters of college Spanish is suggested.  An OSE and a Study Abroad Office pre-departure orientation are required for these exchanges.

French Immersion Experience

Students who are interested in improving their French language skills can study in Quebec, Canada. A valid U.S. passport is required for study in Canada. Students must have approval from a French instructor at USC and may be required to take a language proficiency test. A minimum of 4 semesters of college French is suggested.  An OSE and a Study Abroad Office pre-departure orientation are required for these exchanges.

Honors Exchange

Students need to be enrolled in USC’s honors program and can take honors courses at other institutions that will transfer back for honors program credit here. Students interested in honors exchanges should contact OSE for more information.

RA/RM exchanges

Students need to be a RA/RM here for a year prior to going to another school. RA/RMs need to complete an application process at the institution they wish to attend. RA/RM exchanges are not available at all institutions. Students interested in an RA/RM exchange should contact OSE for more information. The deadline for this program is usually in November, so interested students should plan early!
