National Survey of Student Engagement
(NSSE)
The NSSE is administered annually to colleges and universities nationwide to obtain information about student participation in programs and activities that institutions provide for learning and personal development. The University of South Carolina is proud to participate in this survey on a bi-annual basis.
Since 2001, the University of South Carolina has participated in the NSSE, the most comprehensive assessment of the extent to which first-year and senior students from colleges and universities across the country engage in educational practices associated with high levels of learning and development.

Assessment
The Office of Student Engagement works collaboratively with offices throughout campus to assess the level and effectiveness of student engagement at the University of South Carolina. Each initiative focuses on peer leadership and undergraduate research. To date, the University has compiled a Student Engagement Report [URL Link to report] that combines data from the 2007 National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) and information about student engagement from offices on campus.
Our office has also created a user-friendly booklet on Learning Outcomes.
