Magellan Explorers: A Living Learning Community
Interested in getting hands-on experience and exploring your interests? Become a Magellan Explorer!
Research is about asking questions and finding the answers. It's not just for scientists! Research at USC happens in every department and every field of study – from history, theater, and art through psychology, engineering, and medicine and every discipline in between. As a scholar you seek answers to questions of great interest to you. Your question could be aesthetic, social, political, scientific, or technical. You choose the tools, gather, and analyze the data that will help you to delve deeper and find answers.
This community will help you do that. Students will learn about the many varied cutting-edge research and scholarly endeavors occurring on campus and engage in a project of their choosing. Students will interact with faculty and campus researchers including upperclassmen engaged in research, creating a network to support your explorations.
Opportunities for Involvement
- Discover seminar series as preparation for a research experience
- Field trips, both social and educational, such as research labs, the Observatory, musical and theatrical events including the Lab Theatre
- Networking events to connect with faculty, campus researchers, and student organizations
- Personal development and group interaction activities
- Opportunities for Service Learning, Study Abroad, and Research grants and scholarships
