The Bridge Community

The Bridge Living and Learning Community welcomes transfer students from South Carolina’s technical college system. During the Fall 2008 semester, thirty students primarily from Midlands and Greenville and technical colleges are invited to participate in this community.

Students living in the Bridge Community are able to access a wide range of academic and personal support programs as well as career exploration opportunities. The Bridge Community seeks to support students entering the University of South Carolina by giving them special opportunities to become acclimated to the campus.

The Bridge Community is located in the East Quad Residence Hall. East Quad offers residents private bedrooms and private bathrooms and is located next to the Blatt Physical Education Center.

Special opportunities for students living in the Bridge Community include:

  • Each Bridge Community member will be paired with a mentor through the Transformation program.
  • Personalized Academic Success Coaching through the Academic Centers for Excellence (ACE)
  • Special engagement opportunities, including undergraduate research, service learning, and study abroad
  • Personalized tours of campus
  • Information from important campus offices including career services and financial aid
  • Leadership opportunities within the community

The Bridge Community compliments the University’s larger Bridge agreement with all South Carolina Technical Colleges to welcome transfer students to the University of South Carolina, as well as aid them in their transition.
