About the Office of Student Conduct

Promoting civility, integrity, and the ideals set forth in the Carolinian Creed to foster a better living and learning environment in the university community.

The Office of Student Conduct is committed to providing an educational campus environment that is conducive to the personal and ethical development of students in the Carolina Community. All aspects of the University’s student conduct process are directed or supported by this office.

Student conduct codes and policies are developed by this office in collaboration with faculty, staff and students. Procedures in OSC differ significantly from criminal or civil court procedures. The purpose of this non-adversarial investigative process is to complement the institution's effort to maintain a community which fosters the ethical development and responsible judgment of its students. Decisions regarding a student’s responsibility for an alleged violation are based on a preponderance of the evidence presented.

In-depth descriptions of student rights and hearing procedures are outlined in the Carolina Community at http://www.sa.sc.edu/carolinacommunity.

To see a more complete list of the many services that OSC offers to educate and maintain the mission of the office and the University please see our services.
