Maxcy College: A Place to Live, A World to Explore

Carolina Global Scholars Program

The Carolina Global Scholars program (CGS) supports students of any major, minor, or intellectual interest in their quest for global competency. CGS provides students interested in global topics an additional path to distinction; recognizes high-achieving students in areas of international interest; supports student progression toward Graduation with Leadership Distinction (GLD); promotes the study of foreign languages; connects students to opportunities for meaningful service experience; and provides funding for student scholarship through travel awards and undergraduate research grants. Students do not have to be resident at the International House at Maxcy College to be named a Carolina Global Scholar – any Gamecock in good academic standing is invited to pursue the program!

Why become a Carolina Global Scholar?
Becoming a Carolina Global Scholar distinguishes students from their peers, demonstrating their dedication to developing global competencies and global citizenship. Students who earn distinction as Carolina Global Scholars are better prepared to market their capacities to engage meaningfully across cultural and geographical borders, demonstrate effective language skills, and take real-world service work into employment and civic life.

Program components
The Carolina Global Scholars program is designed to support student learning in all facets of global competency.
