Carolina Gardens

Carolina Gardens is a three-building complex located at Pickens and Whaley streets on the south end of campus. This complex contains seventy-two apartments [two (2) one-bedroom, sixty-four (64) two-bedroom, six (6) three-bedroom apartments]. Each apartment is furnished with a stove and refrigerator only.

All floors are tiled and carpeting is not provided. Residents are encouraged to bring some sort of carpeting (e.g. throw rugs, area rugs, hall runners, etc.). Carpeting will help reduce noise passing from one apartment to another.

  • Single graduate students and families are eligible to live in Carolina Gardens.
  • Air conditioning units are provided by the University.
  • Electric cooking and radiant heating.
  • Paint color in all apartments is off-white.
  • Two laundry rooms with coin-operated machines are available on site
  • Blinds are provided.
  • There is a large playground and picnic area in Carolina Gardens.
  • Cable television is available through Time-Warner Cable, an off-campus supplier.
  • Parking is available on the streets around the community and does not require a University of South Carolina permit.
  • Phone and Internet services are not available though the University and must be contracted through an off campus provider.
