This application will allow you type and print but save is not enabled.
A. Family and Graduate Housing: The student must be a part of a family unit, which is defined as a husband and wife with or without children, or a single parent having one or more dependent children who will also reside in the apartment. Qualifying members of the family unit must be physically present 90% of the time. Relatives other than a student's spouse and children do not qualify for occupancy. Families are eligible for apartments in Cliff and Carolina Gardens. Single students 23 or older are also eligible for Family and Graduate Housing.
B. Single Graduate Housing: Graduate students are eligible for apartments in Cliff and Carolina Gardens.
2. Applications must be completed and returned before applicants will be eligible for an assignment. Applicants should number in order of preference (and will only be offered) the units they will accept for occupancy. The more types of units an applicant is willing to accept, the better the chances are of receiving an assignment for the date desired.
3. All applicants must submit a deposit of $100.00 along with a non-refundable application fee of $45.00 ($145.00 total) with the application. (Checks should be made payable to: University of South Carolina, or the University of South Carolina.) This deposit becomes a Security Deposit when the applicant is assigned to an apartment. It is refundable upon cancellation of the application (in writing) prior to assignment or upon termination of occupancy, less any charges for repairs (beyond normal wear), replacement of missing items, cleaning charges, or debt to the University. Students who fail to occupy an apartment which has been accepted as an assignment will forfeit their security deposit.
4. Applications are filed according to the date they are received in the Family and Graduate Housing Office. When an apartment becomes available for assignment, it is offered to the student with the earliest application date who will accept that particular type of facility. Assignments depend upon vacancies of residents, who are required to provide thirty days' written notice prior to the end of an academic term.
Applicants must not assume that an apartment will be available for the date desired once the application and deposit are submitted and accepted.
