Where is the Family and Graduate Housing Office located?

How do I apply for Family and Graduate Housing?

Applications are available online on VIP and at the Family and Graduate Housing Office.

How are applications prioritized?

Applications are prioritized on a first-come, first-served basis once the application fee and deposit are made. The type of apartment available might also play a role in the order that apartments are offered.

Can a student or person of the opposite gender live with me?

No, only married couples with proof of a marriage license may live together.

Do I have to be a full-time student (9 hours for graduate students and 12 hours for undergraduate students) to live on campus?

Yes. However, graduate students with a “verified” graduate assistantship may be enrolled for 6 semester hours.

Are apartments furnished?

Apartments are furnished with a stove and refrigerator only. Residents must provide their own furniture.

How can I get a roommate?

The Family and Graduate Housing Office is not responsible for finding roommates for residents, however we will do our best to find roommates for residents who are interested in sharing an apartment.

Can I have a non-USC student as a roommate?

No. Only USC students or a USC student's spouse and children are allowed to live in Family and Graduate Housing.

Are utilities and cable included in my rent?

Utilities and cable are included in the rent for Cliff Apartments. Rent for Carolina Gardens includes electricity and water service only. Phone, cable and internet must be acquired from an outside source at the student’s expense.

Are laundry facilities available?

Laundry facilities are located in the E and H buildings of Carolina Gardens and on the first floor of Cliff Apartments. Both are coin operated and the facilities in Cliff Apartments also accept the CarolinaCard.

Does Family and Graduate Housing have A/C and Heat?

Cliff Apartments has central air-conditioning and heat. Carolina Gardens has radiant heat and one air conditioner window unit per apartment.

Where do I pay my rent?

You can pay your rent at the Main Housing Office, located on Devine Street in Patterson Hall on the Garden Level or online on VIP.

When do I need to renew my lease?

Leases are automatically renewed on June 30 unless a written notice of intent to vacate is provided 45 days in advance.

How much does parking cost at Carolina Gardens and Cliff Apartments?

A graduate parking decal can be purchased at the Vehicle Management and Parking Services Office located at 1501 Pendleton Street. A decal is required to park in the lot outside Cliff Apartments. There is currently no decal required to park at Carolina Gardens.

Where should I go to pick up my packages?

All packages are delivered to the Family and Graduate Housing Office in Cliff Apartments, Room # 201. Residents will be notified when a package has been received for them. Packages can be picked up during regular office hours.
