The University of South Carolina’s Academic Centers for Excellence (ACE) are here to help you become a Smart Gamecock! We offer Academic Success Coaching, after-hours Writing Center consultations, and math tutoring.

How can I benefit from ACE?
Would you like to learn how to study more effectively, gain better time management skills, or increase your reading comprehension? If so, then ACE is the place for you. ACE coaches can help you improve your grades by helping you fine tune your study habits.
Whether you need assistance with writing a paper after-hours or help with a Calculus problem, ACE is a great resource. Visit the ACE Services page to learn more about ACE’s offerings to all students.
How do I schedule an appointment?
You can schedule an ACE appointment for Academic Success Coaching and Study Skills Development by going to the Appointments Page.
Math tutoring is by drop-in only, while writing consultations is by drop-in or schedule by calling 777-2078.
Where do I get Out-to-Lunch tickets?
You can pick up Out-to-Lunch tickets from the following offices: Patterson Hall, Bates House, Green Quad, Columbia Hall, Pinckney/Legare, Resident Student Learning (Sims), Bates ACE, Columbia Hall ACE, and
Sims ACE.

What is the LASSI?
The Learning and Study Strategies Inventory (LASSI) is a 10-scale, 80-item assessment of students' awareness about and use of learning and study strategies such as Information Processing, Selecting Main Ideas, Motivation, Anxiety, Concentration, and Time Management.
